My belief statement is:
I believe that psychic abilities are from a sense that all humans possess that cause unexplainable experiences such as deja vu.
My paper was about an unusual topic that is hard to explain. So before you read it I want to tell you a few things as further explanation. I enjoy meditation, dreams, and basically anything else that is mysterious. My paper is about deja vu and how I explain that experience. I believe all people have a sense that science doesn't label. There are other phenomenon such as telepathy and the staring phenomenon(when you sense someone looking at you) that I think are involved in this psychic sense. I believe this mostly because there are parts of life obviously present, but invisible to us. The example I use is the soul. The following paper is about one experience I try to walk through to organize my thoughts of my belief.

Faith In A Sense

Have you ever had a familiar feeling about a moment that was unexplainable to you? Many thoughts cross my mind and some I think deeper about than others. One topic I think about often is psychic abilities. Experiences such as déjà vu make me curious because it isn’t talked about in everyday conversation, yet it is present nonetheless.  Because of my déjà vu experiences I have come to believe that psychic abilities come from a sense that all humans have. My belief is reconfirmed every time I have an experience when my body knows something that my brain doesn’t recognize until after the experience has passed. The feeling is familiarity of what has happened and that I knew what was going to happen before it did.

Déjà vu is a good example of an experience when I suspected another sense existed other than the five proven ones. My reasoning is that when comparing another sense such as sight; it isn’t that different at all. We don’t have to think hard about what we are seeing. The image goes through our eyes and processed by the optic nerve. I can’t explain the process of psychic abilities, but we don’t have to try to have them. They unexpectedly and mysteriously happen.

One day I was with my mom and sister a few years ago. We were walking out of Wal-Mart where there is the view of a parking lot, cars, and people. I remember the weather was sunny and there was a slight breeze blowing. As I walked out of the automatic doors I saw an old brown car drive by and I met the eyes of the man driving. I look around and the few seconds after that felt oddly familiar. My mom and sister were having a conversation about a person we know, the brown car had circled around one of the parking lanes and squealed his tires, and the overall vision of the place where I was walking was familiar. There is nothing important about this clip of my life, but for some reason I remember it clearly. It must be that I was thinking deeply about what had happened. More déjà vu has occurred in my life since then and sometimes I dream about it the night before and others I don’t.

Skepticism may arise because the other five senses can be labeled to a specific lobe of the brain and there is no known location for a sense that causes the previously explained experience. However, I maintain faith in my belief because I know I have a soul, but I can’t locate that inside me either. This topic is worth thinking about for reasons of curiosity and mere presence in our lives. Many people overlook psychic happenings for various reasons, but it is a mystery I believe we should be open minded about. Even though my belief is not well proven scientifically, it encourages a unique conversation with others and promotes deeper thinking.
